Laura E. R. Peters

Director of Research

Dr. Laura E. R. Peters is a Research Fellow at University College London cross appointed to the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction and the Institute for Global Health. She is an interdisciplinary geographer and peace and conflict scholar interested in complex social and environmental relationships. Laura researches how deeply divided societies build knowledge about, cope with, and act upon social and environmental changes and challenges, including those related to climate change and disasters. The goal of her research is not just to mitigate risks but also to develop actionable strategies that support community health and wellbeing, strengthen social-environmental sustainability, promote multidimensional social justice, and build durable peace. Laura holds a PhD in Geography (Oregon State University), MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution (American University), and MA in International Development and Cooperation (Korea University).
